Opened in February 2018 as an initiative of CNEA, Canadian National Exhibition Association, Withrow Common is the new original venue for your next event!  Located at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, across from the Princess Margaret Fountain, this gallery art will provide you the perfect location for your guests up to 200 people.

Designed by architects Page + Steele Inc, the gallery is inspired by the mid-century Modernist architecture movement in Toronto in the 1950s.  It has a long and rich history of hosting many kind of events such as cocktails, intimate gatherings, workshops, corporate meeting, etc.

Withrow Common is named in honour of the Canadian National Exhibition founder: John Jacob Withrow (1833-1900). He served as the fair’s President from 1879 until his death in 1900. A businessman, politician, and philanthropist, Mr. Withrow made many contributions to the city and community during his lifetime.

Thanks to a bid in 2016, the CNE was able to redevelop its offices as a clean, simple and contemporary looking gallery.  Withrow Common also offers the possibility of full buyouts of the spaces.

As these series of events always have been popular, this night the rooftop patio was also busy visited by over 100 people.

During the day the weather wasn’t favourable, but luckily by 6 PM the sky cleared up and the guests could enjoy a nice cocktail and some good food with the sunset on the background.

CityEvents and Shanny in the City are very pleased with the opportunity to organize the Summer Series as connecting people is such an important value for us.

Taste of Little Italy is an annual street and food festival hosted by the Little Italy Business Improvement Area. But, contrary to popular belief, the event is about so much more than just ITALIAN FOOD! Attendees from Toronto, the GTA and beyond come each year to try food from some of Toronto’s best restaurants, play games at the midway, shop creations of artists and enjoy entertainment from international performers. This year, there was even a skatepark (with lessons included)!

The CityEvents team was excited to attend the infamous Toronto food festival on the Friday evening. We had the pleasure of meeting influencers Joanna Sable of JoannaSable.com and @JoannaSable and  Cindy of @WakeUpEatThis, and another group including Anh of hangryfoodies.com, Raymond of TravellingFoodie.net, Alex of HypeBelly.com, Brian and Albert of @TorontoFood and Rey of EatnMingle.com.

Our evening started at Hogtown Pub and Oysters, where owner Darryl Brown served up fresh seafood and prosecco (and showed us how to shuck an Oyster, should we get a craving while solo at home). We headed to Il Covo where chef Ryan Campbell prepared chicken skewers with a leek sauce, which we enjoyed on their front patio. At the new spot located right next to Pasqualino’s, we got a sneak preview of what’s to come with some risotto and perfectly spicy chicken! As if we weren’t already stuffed, we had the long-time favourite gelato at Sicilian Sidewalk.

Little Italy has evolved to be a colourful multicultural Toronto neighbourhood, and the festival did a wonderful job showcasing the diversity of cuisine in the area. Attendees come to try Vietnamese food in a vintage atmosphere at new and hot Pinky’s Ca Phe, ramen and izakaya at Ryoji and Thai and Malaysian food from Urban Thai. Although the neighbourhood is known for its Italian options, their advertisements truly did not lie: there really is so much more in Little Italy!

Aside from the food, the atmosphere was infectious. By night, the street was illuminated by lights from the games and flooded with the aromas of the food on the 50 extended patios. If people weren’t enjoying a seat and a sip, they were dancing on the street to the live music, shooting hoops at the midway, or mingling and meeting their food-loving peers.

It’s no wonder this festival is a long-time favourite of Torontonians, visitors and tourists alike. Needless to say, we are already looking forward to next year!

This was the last edition of Schmooze at Maison Mercer. Hoping you all liked it and that you kept unforgettable memories!  And for the rest of the summer see you at the Kasa Moto Patio series.

On May 7th at Craft Beer Market on Adelaide, Collective Arts celebrated Toronto’s beautiful Spring and Summer weather with the new Liquid Art Fest Tropical Milkshake IPA: a tropical, full-bodied milkshake IPA with vanilla, mango and passionfruit flavours paired with Simcoe and Citra hops. With its opacity and orange colour due to the Vermont ale yeast, lactose and fruit puree, it almost looks like a tropical milkshake!

After time to sip and mingle, guests were shown to a dining area where Brewmaster Ryan Morrow guided guests through a beer tasting where attendees tried three beers, all perfect for cooling down or partying it up in the hot weather, accompanied by yummy yet hearty bites paired with the beers to bring out their true flavour.

Guests were sent home with collectible beer mats featuring the work of emerging artists, information about the new beers, and some beverages to enjoy at home. Have some art you want featured on a can of your favourite beer? Every six months, Collective Arts has a Call for Art (to which you can submit your art here). The submissions are curated by a team of experts to bring to you another beautiful, varied series. Their series 9 of artwork features art from 46 emerging artists, and their series 10, launching soon, is sure to impress yet again.

If you missed this event, have no fear! Collective Arts will be showcasing their Liquid Art IPA again at their art, music and beer festival on June 15 and 16 in Hamilton. Here, you’ll be the first in Canada to try beers from some of many 52 Brewers from Europe, Asia and the US while listening to live music by Juno-award winning artists like The Beaches, Charly Bliss, Mt. Joy and more! The art doesn’t stop there – there will be street art by German Art Collective The Weird and UK-based artist Loch-Ness. Also at the festival: Food trucks, beer yoga from Lululemon, Banksy exhibit, screen print shop, tattoo pop-up and barber shop!
