The flagship Aveda Institute professional hair and beauty school in Toronto is directly opposite St James Park at 155 King St East.  This is the green space where the 2012 Occupy Movement settled in the city, and the salon below and school up top both have wide windows that look out on to the park. For some students that must have been very challenging scenery. Truly gifted beauticians are therapists and empathic to ailments and societal malaise. The best of the breed do indeed feel like they were called to the job of being hair stylists from a higher power – they feel like they were born to style.

Born to Style is a nationwide search for Canada’s next top stylists; its a real contest into which many dozen young people will enter and four will find, after winning a live competition, that their entire tuition worth approx $10K each is paid in full.

AVEDA Institute Canada challenges young people to step up and prove they are Born to Style again in 2013; applicants need to show contest admin why they deserve to be included in each city’s top five finalists group. They need to make and publish video media to show what they will do when asked to perform in a live hair styling competition in front of important guests, and be judged by celebrity stylists in all four cities across Canada.

2013 Born to Style Hair School Scholarship Contest, presented by Aveda Institute Canada is the exact same structure as last year, and accepts video submissions until 1st March 2012.

This social media contest was created to help innovative and imaginative youth who are just starting out in beauty craft and perhaps, as yet, do NOT even know the basics of cutting hair.  This challenge could be the first step in a new career as a beautician or fashion stylist. The competition is designed to help these young artists become world class stylists and a satisfying career that begins by winning all tuition expenses paid prize to be redeemed at AVEDA Institute in Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver.
