Oliver and Bonacini welcomed Big Rock Brewery to Toronto with a collaborative, unique two-level, fully accessible heritage space, known as Liberty Commons. The modern brewpub venue offers up two separate and unique areas to rent out or go big with a full restaurant buyout.

Barrel Room is a great space with room for either a breakfast rendezvous or a full seated dinner of groups of up to 32, or have a reception style gathering for groups of a 47. The Barrel Room comes equipped with a 60” flat screen television, but you do have to be conscious of shrinking the guest list if a/v is required. The room is backdropped with an upcycled beer cask wall and exposed brick.

The Drink Tank offers an airy space with slightly smaller capacity. Up to 24 people can be seated or 30 people for reception style mixers, private get-togethers or business breakfasts. The Drink Tank gives guests a great visual of the brewmasters at work in the on-site brewery, perfect for a beer lager enthusiasts or an ale-themed event.

The entire restaurant will get 173 guests seated or a large soiree with 340 standing. For any option, a cocktail services can be provided, with limitations on draft, and you can also tailor the beverage selections to enhance your guests’ experience! Match that with a customizable menu – including vegan and vegetarian- and you have a great event on your hands.

On Thursday June 6th, the CityEvents team attended the, “Give Me Liberty After Work Party”. The event was located on Fraser Avenue on the west side of Lamport Stadium. Although the weather was uncooperative a good turnout of residents, business owners and Liberty Village lovers braved the wet weather. These brave souls enjoyed the many tents that contained food, drink and local businesses from the Liberty area. A DJ helped keep the mood light as partygoers enjoyed networking as they bounced from tent to tent. These tents included Good Life, AutoShare, Zipcar, Aroma, Yogurty’s, Maizal, Vogue Supperclub and 25 Liberty to name a few. Besides the weather the event was enjoyable and a great way to experience some of Liberty Villages many offerings.

There’s something invigorating about stepping into this complex! The space is a beautiful cobblestone walkway about 100 metres long, is filled with lots of great retail shops, pubs, bars and restaurants throughout making it a great outdoor venue space and if weather isn’t on your side its covered!

With the influx of new townhomes and condominiums in the area, as well as an expected 30,000 new residents, the neighbourhood’s local demographic of young urban professionals, as well as the building’s close proximity to the downtown core and existing tenant base, provide an attractive opportunity for commercial interests.

With several key incentives, including the opportunity to lease space that can accommodate storage needs, Liberty Market Building offers an attractive retail venue and provides all the elements needed for commercial success. This space is quite verstatile and has been underutlized so if you are looking for a new venue that has not hosted too many events check out the Liberty Market

On Wednesday April 18, 2012, CityEvents, RPC Group and Bar Vespa collaborated to welcome many Torontonians for this month’s Liberty Social Hour. Taking place in the heart of Liberty Village, this season’s social hour was themed as a celebration of spring. Local residents of the village, as well as others from around Toronto were pleased with the opportunity to socialize and get to know what this new neighbourhood is all about. When the evening began, the sun was shining and the drinks were flowing. Bar Vespa, the host restaurant, was filled within a few short moments, and was ready to encourage the crowd to mingle.

As the night led on, the amount of people in attendance picked up, and so did the conversation. It was clear that many of the guests had different reasons for attending Liberty Social Hour. Some were there just to meet up with a friend, others were curious to see what the hype was all about. Each guest had heard the buzz about the social hour in different ways. For some, it was hearing through past attendees, others through social media, and for a small handful, they were persuaded by the many posters surrounding the Liberty Village area.

Overall the environment was very friendly and outgoing. The same guest that stayed for 30 minutes was just as satisfied as the guest that stayed for four hours. Whether the guest was there to have a drink with old friends, or a stranger to the community, everyone felt welcomed and walked away having had a great interaction with another. As guests made their way out of Bar Vespa, they were surprised with a gift bag filled with exciting new products and deals from within Liberty Village and the surrounding area. As well, they received a special treat contributed by Bar Vespa.

Liberty Social Hour is an event meant to bring social interaction to many types of Toronto individuals. It allows one to learn more about what Liberty Village has to offer, as well as the type of people who fill it. Make sure to keep an ear out for the next Liberty Social Hour coming up in a few short months. Be a part of the growing neighbourhood of Liberty Village, and have the chance to be a part of the excitement.

On Thursday Jan 26th. Liberty Villagers bundled up and headed out to network, socialize and most importantly have fun! Planned by Rod Ponce of RPC and Deb Lewis of CityEvents, Liberty Villagers were treated to a night of relaxation, amazing door prizes, and a signature Liberty Village cocktail courtesy of Williams Landing at Noche Caliente. For one evening the January gloom melted away into the chic urban glamour of the neighborhoods’ hottest new restaurant. If you missed out on the action, the next Liberty Social Hour is in the works for April 2012.

The 100 or so guests ranged from young professionals enjoyed a post work signature Liberty Village cocktail, from marketing CEOs connecting, to a retired couple out for an evening of fun. The attendees may have been varied but everyone had one thing in common: Liberty Village! Despite being the fastest growing district in Toronto Noche Caliente Liberty Social Hour perfectly captured the close-knit neighborhood spirit of the Village community.

Chatting with a six-year veteran of Liberty Village, Amelia Paddington, she filled us in on how she became a fixture at the Liberty Social hour. “My husband and I walked into the first one without a clue to what was going on and not knowing a soul, but by the end of the night we had met so many people, some of whom even lived in our building and we had never spoken to! It’s gotten so much bigger since that first social hour, but its community events like these that make me love where I live”.

Over 20 local businesses generously donated samples, gift cards, and coupons to promote the village and appreciate its residents. We would like to thank our wonderful sponsors: Williams Landing, Mercado, Vocado, Lust for Lashes, Portrait Dental, Dancelology, Brazen Head, Temple Kitchen, Bar Vespa, King West Fitness, Body Food, Magic Oven, Sell Off Vacations, The Floor Studio, Dining Date Night, Liberty Village Eye Care! Everyone left with a gift bag and a smile on their face.

Our wonderful photographers from CityEvents and RPC have posted all the glamour shots from the night at http://www.flickr.com/photos/cityeventstoronto and our video footage will be made available shortly! January may be the longest month of winter, but in Liberty Village they kicked the year off with a bang! Can’t wait for the next one!

A Warm November Night in Toronto’s ‘Hottest Neighbourhood’

Christopher Alvarado

11/23/2011

The Liberty Social Hour promoted its first event of the winter, La Noche Caliente, as an opportunity to ‘enjoy a blazing hot night in the winter’ and it proved to be quite the accurate description. La Noche Caliente, held at Locus 144, provided a very soothing and stylish ambience distinguishable by its dimmed lights and delightful live music. Located on 147 East Liberty Street, this resto-lounge caters to all demographics as owner Cassius Williams gracefully states, “our main priority is to offer fantastic service; we are very casual in our style and not pretentious or judgemental in any way.” The atmosphere was incredibly friendly as strangers became acquaintances and workers expanded their networks over a few reasonably priced drinks.

The event was organised through RPC Group and City Events and promoted “the chance to connect with the artistic, urban, professional, chic crowd at Liberty Village.” Liberty Village is widely considered the hottest new neighbourhood in Toronto, as seen through its communal growth as new condominiums, offices, and shops continue to shape its increasingly dynamic community. Events such as La Noche Caliente provided workers and residents in the area, overwhelmingly young professionals, to meet like-minded individuals and expand their respective networks. Roger Caltworth, a consultant for an innovative start-up IT firm said he moved to Liberty Village five years ago from downtown and since then has not regretted it. “I’ll probably live here for another five years and then eventually move to the suburbs. My property has already doubled in value since I purchased it and it will continue to rise,” as he said with a smile. However, Roger’s one comment was this: “I’d like to see more independent shops and local businesses in the area.”

‘’I encourage everyone, if you haven’t been, you need to come to the next one…I love meeting new people and minute I walked through the door I met somebody new and I’ve been talking to her like I’ve known her for a while. So every time I’m here, I end up with a new friend, an acquaintance, somebody I actually stay connected with. That’s what I really love about it’’ Karlyn mybeautybank.ca

‘’I think it’s a really cool event. It’s my second one. And it’s just good to get off the office, network and meet new people and expand your business’’ Peter midniteruntoronto.com

‘’I actually saw a poster across the street …. and I decided to come check it out. There’s a great vibe, the people here are really friendly. It’s good times.’’ Joshua Liberty, Village Resident

This was the only critical comment mentioned at the event. Many of the guests thoroughly enjoying the evening but also wondered why more events like this don’t happen more often in the area. Liberty Village is a thriving and vibrant community but as any young professional will tell you, the motto is ‘work hard, play hard’ and it’s simply difficult to ‘play hard’ in Liberty Village. This is why La Noche Caliente was so successful. It gave the residents an opportunity after work to enjoy a drink, hear great music, and socialize with others before heading out into the chilly November evening.

The night however belonged to the residents and businesses of this trendy community. The event showed its flair and culture with the live jazz band, the Sultan of Soul. The lead singer’s calming voice could have you imagining a resort in the Caribbean. City events and RPC Group provided the platform and their work have continuously made this community even more connected with each other. RPC Group’s objective in using social media is to ‘effectively reach, build and maintain relationships with their consumers.’ The mood reflected this perception as the evening started: quiet and formal but gradually became more casual through the vibrant soulful music and the inevitable dancing which accompanied it.

Cassius Williams hopes to see more lounges in the area as a way of bringing clientele from other neighbourhoods to Liberty Village. Many of the guests said they were already spending more of their time on the weekends in Liberty Village than before.
