To say Friday’s Schmooze grand opening at Maison Mercer was a success, would be an understatement. Attendees enjoyed delicious food, masterly crafted cocktails and the beautifully renovated rooftop patio. As guests arrived to the patio, the amazing energy of the event grew and grew.

The beverage sponsor, Belvedere, graciously served complimentary drinks until 7 p.m. to go along with the other foods and treats provided by Maison Mercer and Treeline Catering. Along with sliders, skewers and other barbecue, there were rounds of sorbet and freshly popped popcorn up for grabs.

On behalf of everyone at CityEvents, we would like to thank all of those who attended the Maison Mercer After Work Schmooze Grand Opening event. It was an amazing evening enjoyed by all and we can’t wait to see you on the patio again!

The sun was out, the drinks were cold and there was plenty of vodka to go around thanks to the event sponsor, Belvedere Vodka. Thank you to everyone who came out to the kickoff party for this summer’s SCHMOOZE at Maison Mercer.

I arrived just before 5 pm, and there was already a lineup of people waiting to get inside! Once we were in, it was so nice. The Maison staff had set up all of the booths and the staff was all very pleasant and accommodating. As soon as it started it was pretty busy but after an hour there were so many people! It was great to see some familiar faces and so many new ones too.

The food, courtesy of Treeline Catering was unreal. I saw mini burgers and chicken skewers, which were delicious. People were lingering around the BBQ and it seemed just as the guy was done preparing the food, it was gone so I’m glad everyone enjoyed it!

The sun came out just in time for SCHMOOZE and people seemed to enjoy being able to relax after a long week of working. It must have been a long week judging by the amount of jagerbombs I saw being passed around! Maison’s patio is the best spot for a warm evening and the DJ was playing some classic summer tunes to really kick off patio season in Toronto.

My staff was able to snap a few pictures before it got dark. Check out the link below and see if you can spot yourself in any of them! And if you weren’t able to make it this time, don’t worry. SCHMOOZE is happening each and every Friday until the end of summer on Maison’s rooftop patio. However, if you want to see me and Shanny in the City (which I know you do) we’ll be there again June 26! Same deal as last time. We’ll be having drink specials (who can pass up $4 drinks??) and a complimentary BBQ before 630 pm. We’re so happy everyone came out and we can’t wait to see you again in June!

On Friday August 15th Maison Mercer &Disaronno joined up for a unique edition of the Afterwork Schmooze!

As usual, the After Work Schmooze was accompanied by a complimentary BBQ and happy hour drinks. People enjoyed tasty burgers, grilled corn and chicken skewers. On top of that, Disaronno – “the world’s favourite Italian liqueur” – offered free samples of Disaronno Sour and passed appetizers such as meatballs, bruschetta bites and Amaretto marinated cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto. So the guests had the full Italian experience!

A Live Jazz Band rounded off the event in a musical manner. The three musicians accompanied the first hours of the Schmooze with live music. Later on, a DJ took over. With his mix of current and classic club beats he ensured a relaxed and joyful atmosphere at the patio. Luckily, the weather was sunny that Friday so there was no need for a warm jacket even in the late hours.

This After Work at Maison Mercer’s gorgeous rooftop terrace was the 3rd Schmooze that was co-hosted by Shanny in the City and CityEvents. The promotion via Social Media and Word-of-Mouth made many people curious about the event as the terrace was crowded in the first few hours. Many guests and familiar faces who attended the last Schmooze evenings returned because they had a really good time and met some nice people.

Many guests mentioned they liked the event due to the great terrace and how it makes you feel as if you are on a short holiday! What is a better start to your Friday than $3.50 happy hour drinks, some food and meeting people? Hanging out on the sofas or at the bar having Toronto’s skyline in the background is a great extra on top!

Abdi and Cassandra attended the Schmooze for the first time. Here are their impressions. Abdi said that “the energy, atmosphere and execution of the event was outstanding and was a perfect way to end off the summer.” Cassandra mentioned that this event “certainly attracted crowds of young business professionals. The appetizers coupled with tasty Disaronno Amaretto made this a memorable and delicious afterwork schmooze.”

Make sure to check out the photos of the event

On Friday, July 11th, the famous After Work Schmooze returned to one of Toronto´s greatest rooftop patios in Entertainment District hosted by CityEvents and Shanny in the City.

The After Work Schmooze was presented by Remy Martin and takes place every Friday on the patio. And the best was the location: The event occurred at Mercer´s rooftop terrace, which provides an amazing view on Toronto´s skyline. If that is not a suitable way to start the weekend on a great summer day!

The event was co-hosted by CityEvents Toronto so many people from their network learned about the event via Social Media. Thus, the location filled up quickly and the terrace matched perfectly – it was crowded but not packed. The night was accompanied by happy hour drinks and a complimentary BBQ.

So if you were not there, just imagine the sunshine in your face, sitting on a cozy sofa, talking to your colleague while having a good wine and a snack from the tasty BBQ! Being surrounded by other people relaxing and listening to good music. Let´s hear from Manon and Annie who are currently at CityEvents how they liked the event Manon: “It was the first time that I went to Maison Mercer and I really enjoyed it, it’s a fancy venue where it’s nice to relax after work!” Annie: “The atmosphere of the venue was great and it is a good opportunity to meet new people and have interesting conversations!

Some other guests told me they just heard about the event from friends and that they will definitely come again as the relaxed atmosphere was a perfect start for a Friday night!
So now you basically know what you missed at Schmooze. But no worries, your next chance is Friday, July 25th– so don´t miss that one!

Auctioning off eligible bachelors and bachelorettes for a charitable cause has always been a popular past time. Maison Mercer was the scene for yet another great fundraising event on Thursday night in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Created by IntriKate, this is the sixth annual auction that has seen nothing but great faces and success since its creation.

All of the women in the office got a chance to check out this year’s auction, and I can honestly say that we it was a perfect night out.

This year’s hosts, Wes Hayden and Jessie Sulidis, brought a higher level of entertainment to the event, offering quirky and hilarious commentary. And they were further complemented by the beautiful list of bachelors and bachelorettes, who ranged from professional athletes to models to corporate leaders to world travelers. When each bachelor or bachelorette came on stage, it was exciting to hear about each one’s story and what kind of date they had planned for the lucky winner. This was the first auction that I had been to which featured high-profile bachelors and bachelorettes, so to gain even a little insight into the life each one was great!

And what’s an event without a silent auction and a gift bag? Guests saw no disappointment in this area. Sponsors for the silent auction and ‘swag bag’ included MAC Cosmetics, Politica, Notable, Luxe Travel Company, CMC Entertainment, Dell, Danier, Elle Canada and Steamwhistle.

Overall, the auction raised quite a bit of money (with some eligible singles going for literally thousands of dollars!) for the Canadian Cancer Society. And it truly was an event with fabulous entertainment, incredible date packages, and great food at the perfect venue.

And as I mentioned before, the swag bag brought no disappointment. Complete with MAC make-up (which I love!), discounts on spa packages, and chocolates, the bag was perfect.

This auction was unlike any other bachelor/bachelorette auction I’ve ever seen. Congratulations IntriKate on a fabulous event!
