The sun was out, the drinks were cold and there was plenty of vodka to go around thanks to the event sponsor, Belvedere Vodka. Thank you to everyone who came out to the kickoff party for this summer’s SCHMOOZE at Maison Mercer.

I arrived just before 5 pm, and there was already a lineup of people waiting to get inside! Once we were in, it was so nice. The Maison staff had set up all of the booths and the staff was all very pleasant and accommodating. As soon as it started it was pretty busy but after an hour there were so many people! It was great to see some familiar faces and so many new ones too.

The food, courtesy of Treeline Catering was unreal. I saw mini burgers and chicken skewers, which were delicious. People were lingering around the BBQ and it seemed just as the guy was done preparing the food, it was gone so I’m glad everyone enjoyed it!

The sun came out just in time for SCHMOOZE and people seemed to enjoy being able to relax after a long week of working. It must have been a long week judging by the amount of jagerbombs I saw being passed around! Maison’s patio is the best spot for a warm evening and the DJ was playing some classic summer tunes to really kick off patio season in Toronto.

My staff was able to snap a few pictures before it got dark. Check out the link below and see if you can spot yourself in any of them! And if you weren’t able to make it this time, don’t worry. SCHMOOZE is happening each and every Friday until the end of summer on Maison’s rooftop patio. However, if you want to see me and Shanny in the City (which I know you do) we’ll be there again June 26! Same deal as last time. We’ll be having drink specials (who can pass up $4 drinks??) and a complimentary BBQ before 630 pm. We’re so happy everyone came out and we can’t wait to see you again in June!

The Social Capital was one of Toronto’s top 10 venues in 2014.
They are a performing arts venue located in the Danforth Village. At Social Capital they host and teach improve comedy, stand-up and sketch. They are perfect for a variety of performances and have a great sound system for bands of all sizes and a beautiful cabaret space for smaller combos. They also host poetry performances and writing workshops. The Social Capitals even has a lounge and bar with drink specials very night of the week. The are on the second and third floor above the Black Swan Tavern. People can even take classes at the Social Capital such as improve workshops that include Find Your Joy! , Boomsicle , Grounded Absurdity and lastly The Soap Opera . One of their featured shows is the 200% vodka. The show where three teams perform 20-minute sets of improvised comedy based off of one audience suggestion, its like the show Whose line is it anyways, except in Toronto!

At the space have corporate and social services such as Corporate Entertainment and Team Building, Executive One-on-one Social Capital also two large, bright studio spaces available for rent across the street from the bar and they also have performance spaces.

Stolichnaya starts with clean filtered well water from the Russian city of Samara, to which they add the wheat and rye grains from farmer’s fields in the Kaliningrad Region. This vodka knows what it is; it’s the end result of an original recipe made by Russian peasants, many centuries ago. Today the fermentation takes about sixty hours. Once complete the resulting mash is distilled four times to a strength of 96.4% ABV. This spirit is then diluted to bottling strength with more artesial well water. It is then filtered through quartz, sand, activated charcoal, and finally through woven cloth.

Canadian advertising agencies have a lot of fun marketing this alcohol and are pioneering new ways to get people talking about the beverage. They’ve made a video which asks a provocative question, ‘if you went out to a bar or restaurant and bumped into yourself, would you have a drink with you?’

Stoli originals know that it’s your opinion that matters – forget about everyone else. It’s not about anyone else’s opinion except yours… Ask yourself this question, are you authentic and charismatic enough for you?

It’s easy to impress other people, but real originality comes from surprising yourself.
