The event took place in the lower level of Quince Bistro where you can hold private events. The space was warm and inviting with lots of natural wood and warm lighting.

The evening started off with an opportunity for mingling with other guests and Allan Small. There were passed hors d’oeuvres, cheese plates, and a glass of welcome prosecco for everyone to enjoy. Once everyone was seated Allan started his very informative talk about the 5 things that could derail the 2015 markets and how to navigate around these risks.

Proceeding the talk Rosa Forgione was introduced and she led casual wine tasting. She sampled three different wines; 2 reds, and a white wine. She was very personable and went around to every table talking about the wines and asking people how they enjoyed them. The evening was concluded by a final round of hors d’oeuvres and a chance for people to ask Allan some questions and to mingle with the other attendees.

Are you looking for somewhere to host your holiday party or private function? Want to impress your guests? The iYellow Wine Cave is the most unique venue in the heart of downtown Toronto.

The iYellow Wine Cave opened it’s doors in November 2013 and acts as the iYellow Club House. Currently it is the place where we teach all of our iYellow Wine School Classes and also host visiting Winemakers from all around the world.

iYellow Wine Club was born out of the idea to taste, learn and meet with friends. There were two original founders Ange & Pax who created wine home videos about tasting wine, wine tastings etc. They took people to wine country on bus tours and hosted wine parties. Now years later the club is a place for all who drink and love wine to gather and connect. Wine is magic that can make you rich, that can make you confident, and can be one of the main stays of your life (if you believe there are 5 main things in life: eating, drinking, sleeping, working, playing).

They are a social club of 10,000+ members who taste, learn and meet together and have been doing it since 2006. As a member you will get invited to an exclusive VIP experience in the iYellow Wine Cave, get wine bottles signed by talented Winemakers, and join to taste 100’s of wines from all over the world! Along the way you’ll build your wine confidence, meet new friends and over time become a real wine expert.

The awesome team of iYellow Wine Ambassadors help to build and keep this community running with over 100 classes, tours and events a year and we do it all so that our members have a place to taste, learn and meet together. Maybe you should earn your wine diploma at iYellow Wine School or join for a tour to Prince Edward County, Niagara and even Tuscany!

The iYellow Wine Cave is located steps away from Osgoode subway station on Queen Street West. It has the a back alley way entrance, reminding you of something you might find in Brooklyn New York, the trendiness of downtown Toronto’s Queen West, with the charm of a rustic European wine bar. This underground wine cave venue is an incredible and inviting space, one which you find anywhere else in Toronto – if not the world. When you step inside, there is a feeling of wine country love balanced with an exciting city spirit. The energy is very special and it’s uniqueness is undeniable, plus, there is always lots of wine!

Just steps away from the train bridge and old station is a two storey home that has been converted into Boxcar Social. A couple of friends got together as young entrepreneurs and decided to make a not so ordinary coffee shop. The staff pays serious attention to their coffee and as per the name, the guys working at Boxcar Social are all extremely friendly, enthusiastic and talkative.

The soon anticipated liquor license will allow for the wine, craft beers, bourbon and scotch to be pulled out and enjoyed at night.

The concept behind Boxcar Social is:

“Do what we love, do it with our friends, and do it really well. Offering a curated, rotating list of coffees from the best roasters in North America, a careful selection of some of the world’s top new-world wines, and interesting craft beers, scotches and bourbons – we strive to create the most unique tasting experience for our customers. And we enjoy every minute of it.”

To differentiate themselves they have a Coffee Club which allows you to receive either Coffee Beans, Espresso Beans or both Espresso and Coffee Beans shipped to your home twice a month for a monthly fee.

Pop in to taste the quality of the coffee, chat with friendly staff, even treat yourself to a chuckle at their witty messages on the outdoor chalkboard and newly added deck patio just in time for summer.

Hours of operation until receiving liquor license are Monday to Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
When liquor license received the new hours will be Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 12:00 am, Friday and Saturday 8:00 am – 2:00 am, and Sunday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Summer time means patios time, and patios time means sun, friends, and good beverage! Here is the must about beverage summer for this summer ! Try it and ENJOY.

Trend 1: Unoaked chardonnays are replacing the big oak wines of the past.

Trend 2: Sauvignon Blanc continues to gain popularity.

Trend 3: More obscure grape varieties like Torrontes, Bonarda, Carmenere, Albarino, Chenin Blanc are being embraced today.

Trend 4: Champagne sales are down, but sales of sparkling wines, such as Spanish Cava, Prosecco, French Cremant, are up. New and innovative cocktails and punches are making great use of these less expensive sparkling wine versions.

Trend 5: Sangria is making a comeback Often mixing in less expensive wines currently on the market. A sangria bar is an increasingly popular change of pace from Bloody Mary bars for brunch and cocktail parties. Cava Sangria, made with the sparkling Spanish Cava wine, for example, is refreshing and great fun to enjoy!

Trend 6: Retro with a twist … Basic cocktails, like martinis, mojitos, margaritas, sidecars, etc. are being revamped with fresh new ingredients such as herbs, spices..etc The best bars and patios have stainless steel ice cube trays as part of the retro movement however these fixtures are always more hygienic and generally outlive their plastic counterparts.

Trend 7: Novelty is au courant in cocktails today.
Bars are creating contemporary ways to serve traditional cocktails … including, for example, wine popsicles.

Trend 8: Craft beers are hot.
“Beer dinners” are growing in popularity, demonstrating the compatibility of beer with food. Beer is also working its way into cocktails, such as with beer margaritas.

Trend 9: The Slow Food revolution now includes enjoying locally produced beverages.

Trend 10: The popularity of wine and wine-pairing classes is strong and gathering steam! Pairings of wine & cheese, wine & herbs, wine & chocolate are exceptionally strong today.

DAVID LONG – from David Arthur

The history of David Arthur Vineyards and the Long Family in the Napa Valley reaches back to the 1950s but it wasn’t until 1970s when David Long began planting vines on a land acquired by his father. David Arthur’s location and use of estate grown fruit is integral to the full-bodied, complex wines associated with the label. The David Arthur wines are produced with a dedication to crafting dynamic, complex vintages.

PETER FERGUSSON – from Tenuta di Biserno

Tenuta di Biserno is Lodovico & Piero Antinori’s new joint venture. The brothers consider the winery to represent the pinnacle of all their achievements. Only the very finest grapes are selected for the blend, which is a carefully crafted balance of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a very small quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. In the best vintages, Biserno is a wine of depth, intensity, complexity, longevity and elegance. A thought-provoking wine which reflects the terroir and the excellent microclimate of the coastal area of the Upper Maremma.
