On April 12th, 2016 the Canadian Helen Keller Centre honoured York University for their efforts to assist the hearing and visually impaired within the community. Mamdouh Shoukri, President and Vice President Chancellor accepted the award on behalf of York University. The Fairmont Royal York’s Concert Hall was beautifully decorated, showcasing daffodils as the centrepiece of each table.

Laura Dottori-Attanasio, Senior Executive Vice President at CIBC served as a wonderful guest speaker, giving a heartwarming speech on the importance of equality for the hearing and visually impaired within the community. With over 250 people in attendance the event was an opportunity for attendees to socialize and reminisce on past events.

Attendees participated in a raffle which helped raise funds for the The Canadian Foundation for Physical Disabled Persons (CFPDP), and received incredible prizes for their generous donations. The Canadian Helen Keller Centre was grateful to those who attended the lunch, as well as York University for their efforts to make their facilities more accessible for the hearing and visually impaired.
