A Diesel Celebrity Fashion Show, titled “WALK THE ONEWAY”, was presented on Thursday, August 16th at CUBE by Onexone and One Up jointly to support the Onexone Pediatric Wing at the new National Teaching Hospital in Mirebalais, Haiti. Glen Baxter, a renowned journalist of CTV, hosted the event. A number of world class Canadian celebrities participated in that event.  CityEvents was there to support the great cause and cover the event. It was great to see so many guests having a great time and amazing turn out for a mid summer event. Lovely to see some of ONEXONE originally Toronto supporters Ed and Suzanne Rogers in attendance with Glenn and David Dixon.

The event was appreciated by many of the gorgeously dressed actors and actresses. These popular celebrities also participated in the fashion show. Among them Miss Universe Canada 2010, Elena Semikina, who looked fab. The famous Being Human actress, Natalie Brown, had been the greatest surprise at the event for many of her fans. Sangita Patel, a weather specialist of City TV was also present there. Among the Television personalities Jacqui Skeete from popular Oh So Cosmo loved the occasion too. A limited number of tickets were available only at a cost of $40. One of my fav local breweries Hogtown Breweries were a sponsor of the night.

This year marked the 18th annual Toronto Festival of Beer (TFOB) at Bandshell Park at Exhibition Place. The Toronto Festival of Beer, which was on July 27 to 29, 2012, featured an astounding selection of beer, great food and amazing entertainment! This year,  CityEvents supported the Moosehead Beer Tent logistics, and helped celebrate Moosehead Lager Canada’s oldest independent brewery, crafting premium beers since 1868.

Past attendees said goodbye to the plastic sampling cups, which were replaced  commemorative TFOB glass steins. The Moosehead Beer tent featured nine products including Moosehead Lager, PaulanerKap, Magners, Tennents Lager, Twisted Tea and Cracked Canoe.

The sun was shining bright on the man-made cottage deck. Moosehead provided branded sunglasses to shield attendee’s eyes from the sun while they lounged, beer in hand, on the large Muskoka chairs. The staple of the Moosehead tent was a 700-pound Muskoka chair. Attendees could not pass by without grabbing the opportunity to take photos with this unique feature.

Are you a festival foodie? There were lots of food options for attendees, including the “Napoleon Gourmet Grills Grilling Tent”. This tent showcased some of the top culinary artists in the Greater Toronto Area. There were also tons of food truck favorites such as Caplansky’s, RockLobster and Oyster Boy.

Although the main focus of the festival was the beer, the exceptional entertainment elevated the event from an average beer tasting to a world-class festival.  Moosehead was no exception, and featured many bands such as the Junction, The Dirty Nils, Organ Thieves, Dinosaur Bones, and Modern Superstitions.

We can’t forget to mention the DJ’sKevin Bailey,Alex “Kid MK” Tribe, Cal M  from salacioussound that made the Moosehead tent the place to be and kept attendees dancing until the final minute. . The main Beer Festival stage featured headlining musical acts such as Salt-N-Pepa, and the Big Wreck.

The TFOB also offered a Girl Guided Beer Tour, which gave women an opportunity to learn and sample five different types of beer, while learning about women in the industry.

Tickets for Toronto’s Festival of Beer sell out in advance every year and this year was no exception.  TFOB saw full attendance both Friday and Saturday! Don’t forget to get your tickets early next year!

Looking forward to seeing you next year, in the meantime check out CityEvents coverage of the  Moosehead Tent at the Toronto Festival of beer: or our photos on Flickr:

Toronto Dating Experts take on a new approach to Singles Events

Toronto, ON-July 29, 2012. Shannon Tebb, also known as Shanny in the City is a Toronto Dating Expert that holds monthly singles events in the Toronto area with partner Gary T. Wilson of Eligible Social Club.

This duo has taken on a new approach to singles events by staying focused on what singles attending events really want-creating themed based events. Singles events can be discouraging for those trying to enter back into the dating scene.  Shanny in the City feels it’s important that we set creative “ice breakers” in order to facilitate successful mingling amongst the group. Mingle cards, and flirtatious name tags can work extremely well for singles in order for one not to seclude themselves in one area of the room.

About Shanny in the City- Shannon Tebb has worked as a   professional dating consultant since 2010 and has lived in Toronto for  the past 10 yrs. As a dating/relationship expert she has been featured on Cosmo TV’s “Oh So Cosmo” providing blind date etiquette tips. Shanny has been featured in METRO, TORONTO SUN etc and acts as a Spokesperson for participating in various radio interviews. Her services include professional Matchmaking and a “Wingwoman” service that teaches her clients how to be successful in approaching the opposite sex by landing a date.

About Gary T. Wilson-Gary Wilson is founder and President of Eligible Inc. and Eligible Social Club and has been involved with the dating world for close to a decade. His weekly blog on dating and relationships enjoys over one hundred unique views per day including the popular monthly “Ask-A-Man” blog. Not only an Eligible Inc. night course instructor but as well Gary is a presenter at various women’s conferences and seminars speaking on the realities of how the 21st century man approaches dating and how the 21st century woman can benefit from this knowledge. Gary is also a diversified entrepreneur whose other ventures have been featured on Global National News, CHTV News, The National Post, The Financial Post, The Globe and Mail, Marketing Magazine, to name a few.

Event Details:

On Thursday, August 9th Shanny in the City and Eligible Social Club will host a singles event at the gorgeous Boiler House patio to accommodate at least 100 singles. Its patio is strictly Miami South Beach cool. With southern and western exposures within this unique walking district, the Boiler House patio offers affordable luxury and a very memorable experience.

This “Screwed” themed event will involve equal distribution of nuts and bolts handed out to men and women. If the nut and bolt fits then it is a possible “real” match and the duo get’s a free cocktail! The classic screwdriver acts as a complimentary drink feature along with fantastic door prizes.  This patio setting also puts each guest at ease as they are outdoors and feel less confined. For the price of $20 per ticket or bring a guest for $35.
