It’s Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF* season in Toronto once again, and the city is buzzing with anticipation of celebrity sightings, secret cocktail parties, and the instant Hollywood Glamour bestowed upon Toronto during this magical time. But this isn’t just a film festival for Toronto, it’s a film festival that has put Canada on the map as a major contender for the film industry, and we couldn’t be more proud of Canadians success. In this spirit “Hollywood North Lounge” was created a party to celebrate Canadians on their achievements, and to nourish our young creative local talent.
Celebrating Hollywood North’s third year, we are the only Canadian content driven event during TIFF, designed for Canadians by Canadians. Hollywood North is by definition a celebration of Canadian talent in film, which transcends into fashion, music, art, and innovation. We believe that our local talent is undeniable and unstoppable. They say it takes a village to make a movie, and luckily in St. Lawrence Iroquoian the word Kanata or loosely translated as ‘Canada’ does mean ‘village’. This year our premier VIP networking event is being held at Brassaii Dinner Supper Club, located at 461 King Street West, Toronto.
The VIP reception is from 7pm – 10pm, with the red carpet call for 7-8pm. Guests can enjoy music courtesy of Paris DJ GG Jackson, and local club favourite DJ Sumation.
Make sure to dress to impress, as we will have 4 official photographers and a videographer to capture guests with secret VIP celebrities who will be making special appearances all night. Also, bring your business cards; it is a networking event after all.
Guests can indulge in complimentary drinks courtesy of our generous sponsors such as, local craft brew ACE Hill, Tag Vodka from Oakville, ON, Gibson’s Finest Canadian Whiskey, and Noxx & Dunn rum from Florida for that international touch. If guests simply need to stay hydrated from too much fun over the TIFF opening weekend, then Hollywood North has you covered with complementary Evian Water and Tonica Kambucha mocktails. Vip gifting includes sponsored products from Lush Cosmetics, Schwartzkopf, Vasanti Cosmetics, PonyDry and more.
Event partners Mode Events, Toronto Creatives, and CanWood Entertainment, has recruited the talents of CityEvents for their public relations expertise, and The Opulent Club renowned night club promotions experience, to make this year’s event truly memorable for guests attending this authentically Canadian event. Hollywood North event is a professional networking event, hosting some of Canada’s most talented and influential people, with a mandate to increase business for Canadian talent through peer exchange. In recent years we’ve had Juno nominees, Oscar nominees, to fortune 500 companies upper management attend our events.
We look forward to hosting you with true Canadian hospitality, and look forward to many more years of growth for our attendees in their careers. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to help lift each other up towards success. Have a wonderful TIFF everyone!

Hogg, Shain & Scheck – Special Edition Dinner Event
Featuring David Shribman
American politics are at a pivotal point in history. This year’s presidential race features candidates who all have unique platforms and values. No other candidate however, is as eccentric, bold and unfiltered as Donald John Trump.
On June 1, Hogg, Shain & Scheck hosted a speaker presentation to celebrate the recent merger with local accounting firm, Marinucci & Company. The invitational event was targeted to HSS clients, business owners and not-for-profit community leaders. David Shribman, the executive editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, gave a detailed look at the upcoming presidential election and the likely Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
“He is one part populist, one part brilliant exploiter of public fears, one part mesmerizing but inflammatory preacher, one part showboat and one part crusading anti-elitist,” said Shribman. “Trump matches his rhetoric with a personality well tuned to the moment – a man too rich to be bought by big interests, too self-assured to be swayed by the concerns of the party establishment, too blunt to be misunderstood.”
The presentation examined the recent success of Donald Trump in the primaries and also discussed presidential opponent, Hillary Clinton. When talking about American presidential history, Shribman pointed out that some of the least favoured candidates leading into an election are remembered as some of the most impactful, well-liked Presidents of the United States.
Shribman’s coverage on politics is distinguished and highlighted by a Pulitzer Prize that he was awarded in 1995 for his reporting on Washington and the American political scene.
