Hemingway’s knows how to draw a crowd! The Pre-Canada Day Celebration was a massive success. The rooftop patio was filled to the brim with every table full, a line out the door, and the bar busy with a sea of red and white wearing guests.
The event sponsor, Brickworks Ciderhouse provided free samples of their two ciders, Batch : 1904 the dry cider, and Queen Street 501 the sweeter cider made from eight different apples. While sampling the all natural ciders, guest were told about the brewing process and we able to ask questions. Brickworks also had a gift basket filled with goodies up for grabs in a raffle which was entered by anyone who bought a cider.
Guests were also treated to Brickworks inspired snacks crafted by Hemingway’s, which were very popular. These snacks included samosas and pakoras served with a dip, and a chilled honeydew puree with dry cider soup served in a shot glass.
Thank you to everyone who came out to start their Canada Day celebrations early and support Hemingway’s! Hope to see everyone at the next Hemingway’s event!

The up and coming neighbourhood, Riverside, became a lot trendier with the opening of Boxcar Riverside, part of the Boxcar Social brand. Boxcar Social is a rustic-chic, coffeehouse that offers premium coffee, craft brews and charcuterie plates. The Riverside coffeehouse is the second location, with the first at Yonge street and Birch avenue.
The owners wanted to do something they loved and they wanted to do it right. Bringing their customers beans from all over North America and having fresh, organically certified ingredients is very important to them. With the success of their first shop, they were able to bring great coffee, local beers and foods to the east-end.
Boxcar Riverside is a large, trendy coffee shop located at Boulton avenue and Queen street east. The gorgeous spot is a great place to get some work done and enjoy a quiet cup of your favourite coffee or host a private party and enjoy the local craft brews on tap.
