Art of Fashion 2012

When it comes to art and fashion, places such as Paris, Milan and New York City are what tend to come to mind. However, a non-profit organization is setting the record straight by bringing forth how fashionable the Great White North really is. We are not all about our toques and parkas, despite how symbolic we have made them. Art of Fashion is the only Canadian organization devoted to emerging designers to help showcase their talent and provide opportunities to further careers in fashion.
Art of Fashion, launched in 1998 by CMP and President of Paradigm Events, Michelle Planche; AOF has cemented their vision in seaming together individuals with the passion for fashion and business development. Art of Fashion has since seen a stream of success from over 20,000 attendees to an annual Design Competition highlighting the best in fresh emerging talents, all the while benefitting charities such as Sunshine Dreams for Kids, Rethink Breast Cancer and A Child’s Voice Foundation.
This year’s Design Competition features the theme of Raw. What does that mean? In essence, it is the fundamental flesh of fashion. Moreover, guests will have the chance to see it all be embodied once the top ten finalists present their interpretation of what Raw is to Fashion. There will be a panel of industry judges casting their final vote on The Most Promising Designer 2012 and Best Exhibit.
The competition will take place on one of the most artistic nights in the city; Saturday Sept 29th, during Nuit Blanche and right after The King East Design District first day. The city will be oozing with creativity, from art you can bring home to art you can wear. And speaking of art you can wear…Like AOF on Facebook for a chance to win an Yves Saint Laurent bag. And as the famous designer once said “Fashions fade, style is eternal”. So come out and enjoy a night lit by everlasting style.
