Schmooze just keeps getting better and better! This past Friday’s event was a huge success with over 200 people in attendance. The rooftop was transformed into a colourful, lantern decorated garden, complete with flowers and balloons giving the patio the perfect summer feel.
Miller Genuine Draft sponsored the event providing complimentary drinks to guests who arrived before 6:30 p.m., which was the perfect start to the night. The sun was shining bright and warm, making the snow-cone machine a massive hit. Guests were also treated to complimentary barbecue courtesy of Treeline Catering, which included sliders and skewers. A new addition to this Schmooze event was the classic party game of beer pong, set up to the right of the bar. The game was played by many guests, and even created a spectator gathering.
Guests created memories by taking pictures for our social media contest, the winner receiving a $25 Sweet Jesus ice cream gift card. To enter, contestants posted a picture using the hashtag, #MaisonAfterWorkSchmooze. The winner chosen by the most number of likes on the post. Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our winner @paola_latronico!
On behalf of CityEvents, we would like to thank everyone who came to Schmooze with us and made this yet another successful event. Don’t forget to join us Friday, August 12 for more after-work fun on one of Toronto’s best rooftop patios!

This is the summer of RUM and the forecast looks Dark and Stormy. The Rum Exchange is a unique rum themed bar located in downtown Toronto. The décor is very club-ish and the venue caters mostly to the after work crowd. Throughout the week the Rum Exchange offers after work drink specials. From Monday- Friday you can enjoy $5 bar rail and house wine along with $3 domestic beer and complimentary appetizers. The high top tables in the centre of the venue are made to look like old wooden rum barrels that have been repurposed very obviously playing on the rum theme. The Rum Exchange is primarily a bar, but they do offer some small plates such as bruschetta, chicken tenders and lamb skewers.
Founder Rumen Dimitrov has a passion for all things alcohol. Not only did he open the Rum Exchange, but he is also the founder of Pravda Vodka Bar which stocks more vodka varieties than anywhere else in the city. His vision was to create the perfectbar/lounge for the after work crowd and it seems his vision has been achieved. Behind the bar is lit up in bright colours displaying the most impressive collection of rums in Toronto. Get introduced to the best and most recent rums on the market at one of the Rum Exchange’s rum tastings. They have more than 80 rums in stock so you’re guaranteed to find something that satisfies your tastes.
The Rum Exchange loves to host private and corporate functions. Scotiabank and KPMG have held their events there. The space can host anywhere between 50 and 125 people and comes fully equipped with an AV system (both screen and projector), microphone and DJ booth at no extra charge. It’s also really close to a lot of hotels which is very convenient if you’re bringing in people from out of town. For any event the Rum Exchange offers the choice between either standing or passed hors d’oeuvres that include vegetarian, seafood and meat options.
If rum is your thing or you’re simply into having a good time, be sure to check out the Rum Exchange.
