Wednesday March 21st, Toronto turned up their amps and grabbed their instruments to be a part of Canadian Music Week. The five-day event, running from Wednesday to Sunday is brought together all kinds of Torontonians. The weeklong festival of events hit genres for every music lover making the event a success. Over the few days there were many ways to be a part of the action. Here is a list of some of the main features of Canadian music week, and what makes it so popular.
Conference/Tradeshow(http://www.cmw.net/conference/conferences/)
Canadian Music Week designs their conferences to put you face-to-face with forward-thinkers who shape the entertainment industries – from sound recording, new media, and broadcast to live touring, film, and technology.
CMW Film Festival (http://www.cmw.net/festival/film-festival/)
Canadian Music Week Film Fest presents an eclectic mix of movie premieres, special screenings, retro rarities, and limited engagements. The festival spotlights some of the industry’s hottest new directors, composers, artists, actors and music supervisors.
Music Festival (http://canadianmusicfest.com/)
The Music Festival is stretched far and wide throughout the city in venues big and small. The festival will be featuring local talent, as well as artists from all over the world. The line up of artists is meant to promote the variety of music that is constantly available in Toronto.
Canadian Music Week also featured a comedy festival and this year the festival featured Steve-O from the notoriously known “Jackass” trilogy. So whether it was grabbing a cold beer and watching a concert, or being a part of the CMW Conference, there was plenty of music to go around to every Canadian interested. I know I enjoyed seeing Canada’s own The Sheepdogs perform live.
