FastLane in the Community

In April, Fastlane in the Community, focused mainly on community service, and took place at Kultura near King St. and Jarvis St. With over 120 guests, there were many opportunities for guests to meet and converse with interesting people in a relaxing environment.
Young professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 have moved into the FastLane and joined together for an unforgettable networking experience.
Attendees were professionals in Non Profit, Hospitality, Health Care, Arts and Entertainment, and other professional services. They were there because they had the drive to make use of the valuable networking opportunities available that night.
This FastLane networking event partnered with United Way Toronto’s GenNext. An organization that encourages people in their 20’s and 30’s to make a difference and to get involved in their community. GenNext was there encouraging attendees to get involved in their Give a Damn program. They want people to take pride in their city, support United Way, and volunteer within their neighbourhood.
Everyone was encouraged to join in the fast-paced three minute speed networking portion of the event. They had the opportunity to meet other professionals and make business contacts in a short time.
Special guests who came out for the night included musicians represented by Red Room Records, who put on a live show, as well as HiTechTattoos, a unique customization company, who was able to engrave images and words onto guests cell phones and mp3 players.
FastLane’s networking events encourage people to get involved and experience how FastLane can open doors for individuals’ businesses and their community endeavours. Once a month, come out and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, presented by CityEvents and Gatherings Event Planning & Fundraising.
Our next event, “FastLane Wine in the City”, is on May 26th and will be held in Yorkville, at Blu Ristorante & Lounge.

On July 25th at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, Divine Brown will serenade a crowd of spectators eagerly assembled to watch the exciting conclusion of  The Search For Miss Teen Canada World.

Tickets are on sale now and the best seats will be those closest to the action as the final twenty five contestants demonstrate their skills and abilities.

Miss Teen Canada

This year each of the contestants must keep a personal blog. In fact they are graded 10% of their final score on the quality of their web journal. And that’s because social networking is breathing new life into the beauty pageant.

Now the pageant director actually depends upon the reigning champion to be able to manage her share of the expanding MTCW social net. Its not a one sided relationship anymore; now they are partners who go to work promoting events and sponsors together.

Katie Starke keeps a blog right on the Miss Teen Canada World website.

And all the contestants are now blogging on the Sugar blog network.

Miss Teen canada The Search for Miss Teen Canada has become more than a beauty pageant; now it’s a real quest for an new internet celebrity to represent our nation in Houston Texas at the Miss Teen World competition in August.

The four MTC-W judges, Elmer Olsen, Lorraine Zander,  John Eltom and Clarence Ford have been asked to award high scores to smart girls with great personalities. So believe it or not, a girl’s physical appearance is actually not that important anymore. Now the succesful candidate must indeed be a leader, and be able to take command of a powerful blog army.
