The Steam Whistle Roundhouse: A great spot in the heart of downtown Toronto

With more than 20 years in the business, the Steam Whistle Roundhouse is the ideal venue to host an event. Every year, it has more than 60 weddings, a variety of corporate parties, fundraisers, art shows, auctions, concerts, book readings, media launches etc.

The venue can hold up to 750 people and has two main rooms:

  • The Main Hall: 250 people for a seated reception and can be customized to accommodate any kind of event
  • The Gallery: Also a 250 person capacity, great for performances and art events

The venue has 60’ ceilings and large windows offering a great view of Toronto.

More perks: A variety of in-house suppliers can be used to customize the space. As well, their list of exclusive caterers can provide a wide variety of gourmet for your guests.

Gold Medal Day for Natalie Spooner, Gold Medalist

On Saturday, April 12, 2014, over 250 people joined Natalie Spooner, from Team Canada’s Women’s Olympic Hockey team, at Hogan Chevrolet Buick GMC Limited in a one-day community event to meet and thank her fans and supporters.

 

Featuring: Natalie Spooner – Gold Medalist, Team Canada Hockey Player and David Merry – Comedian

Date: Saturday, April 12, 2014

Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where: Hogan Chevrolet, 5000 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough.

Guest were given the opportunity to receive autographs, meet and talk with Spooner and get a photo taken with her as well.  There was a raffle with the chance to win an 1 of 12 autographed Team Canada jersey. All proceeds going to support ONE of Natalie’s favourite charities – The Breakfast Club of Canada.

The day was filled with surprises for the kids, Charity BBQ, a hockey skills competition and laughter by comedian David Merry.

Located. An evening in Support of Fogo Island Arts

 

Tuesday, April 29th, Located. An evening in Support of Fogo Island Arts was hosted at The Wychwood Barns. Over 100 guests- more than we excepted- came to this evening filled with rich culture, inspiring art and locally crafted award-winning food. Located. An evening in Support of Fogo Island Arts is a fundraising event showcasing the diversity and rich heritage of Fogo Island. Proceeds raised will benefit the Shorefast Foundation – a charity rooted in the cultural and economic development of the island.

This event featured presentations by Zita Cobb about the Fogo Island project, Nicolaus Schafhausen and Zin Taylor discussing artist residencies with Fogo Island Arts and a talk from Kitty Scott, Art Gallery of Ontario Curator regarding “Residencies Matter”.

tableThanks to the floral decorations of Iris Fraser-Gudrunas and the vintage plates, the Newfoundland atmosphere was all over the Artscape Wychwood Barns. Moreover, the attendees could have enjoyed a Newfoundland Boil Up prepared by Chef Murray Mac Donald – Top 10 “Best New Restaurants in Canada” – enRoute magazine; as well as a Newfoundland Blueberry Lemonade.

Auction turned out very well as every items were sold which enable Shorefast Foundation to collect over $50,000.
