Rob Campbell, Prime Innovator at Smojoe, www.smojoe.com/blog

Here’s a chance to learn valuable tips, simple tricks and advanced tactics for marketing your events in Toronto. Hear from Deb Lewis about best practices used by professionals and learn from Rob Campbell about how to use a myriad of free social media resources to create buzz and build social capital at the same time.

The seminar will cover a step-by-step process and guide participants on how they should market their events or fundraisers. The experience comes complete with a handy booklet on which to notate revelations.  Participants will learn how to ‘put it out there’ and develop a communications strategy and agenda to target and achieve event objectives. With some basic knowledge, innovation, creative thinking, and the right partnerships, everybody can master event marketing.

You will learn:

  • Developing your target market
  • How to develop your marketing plan
  • How to create your write up and promotions to match your target demographic
  • Insights into a variety of different marketing tools (advertisements, public relations, viral campaigns, direct marketing, online, networking, and ‘new social’ media mechanisms beyond Facebook and Twitter)
  • How to create buzz around your event (Will discuss local success stories and why they worked. Rob will discuss Miss Teen Canada World campaign)
  • How to build social relevance on the web and increase your social media presence – a prerequisite discussion that precedes some of these other points
  • Participants will be supplied with a hands on booklet “How to Create Buzz for Your Event” (sold online for $20) which includes a list of over 50 local resources (websites) where you can promote your event

Why Choose the Allstream Centre for your Next Big Event?

The
AllstreamCentre is the latest conference facility to generate buzz and excitement in the city of Toronto.

Since its grand opening in October, the new 160,000 square foot AllstreamCentre conveniently located inside Exhibition Place boasts itself as Canada‘s newest and greenest convention center. Originally built in 1929 as an art deco phoenix known as the AutomotiveBuilding, this spectacular conference center is a reincarnation of its previous edifice after 18 months and $44 million dollars of renovation.

With the remains of the art deco from its previous structure, its sprawling limestone fortresses has reborn the facility into a classy convention centre that has established itself as an attractive spot for special events. What makes this center a hugely popular location for attendees is that it boasts the largest ballroom in the entire city (43,900 square foot), which allows up to 3,000 guests to be comfortably seated. Its 20 meeting rooms can also change into multiple configurations and comfortably accommodate any sized meeting from 50 to 750 people.

Adjacent to the Direct Energy Centre, both buildings together can offer over one million square feet of space if Toronto event planners require more meeting space. The AllstreamCentre by itself also possesses a waterfront view and lays claim to being the first and only conference facility in Canada built to LEED’s environmental silver rating standards. Its environmental features include a white reflective roof, low VOC paints and carpets, and a rainwater system to eliminate city-water to flush toilets. Technology wise, the location uses state of the art LCD touch pads in every conference room, CO and CO2 sensors to regulate air circulation, and iPod docking stations in every conference room.

Above all, the new Allstream Centre now places Toronto in the same class as Chicago and Las Vegas in terms of convention spaces. Not only does this make it a true world class city, but it also sets new standards for others to follow suit.
