Have you been at Yonge and Gould lately? This stretch of Yonge street has lost the lights above the record stores but has gained a brand new student centre for Ryerson as well as a new event venue. Aperture Room is a stylish event space located on the third floor of The Thornton-Smith Building in the heart of downtown Toronto. The space features original exposed brick walls and three magnificent skylights. Aperture Room can be the perfect space to host an unforgettable event. The space caters to all types of social and corporate events and can accommodate 120 guests for a seated event and 180 guests for a standing reception.
The building was designed in 1922 by architect John M. Lyle, who is also credited with designing Toronto’s Union Station and The Royal Alexandra Theatre. There is a lot of history in The Thornton-Smith Building; Aperture Room was designed to keep that history, as well as the history of Yonge Street in mind. Despite all of the renovations, this building has stayed true to its award-winning original architecture. Aperture Room has become one of Toronto’s most popular venues and has already hosted a number of weddings.
Aperture Room is definitely a venue to consider when planning your next event. The atmosphere of the space alone will provide your guests with an exceptional experience and we haven’t even mentioned the food yet.
Oliver & Bonacini will be taking on the catering duties for the event space. The dishes they have discussed for Aperture Room vary from oyster shucking table to a poutine station. The bar menu is just as diverse with various champagnes and a mojito bar.
This stylish space has a loft-like interior and boasts exceptional service and attention to detail. The staff at O&B will help customize your menu to perfectly suit your taste and budget, ensuring that no detail is overlooked.

MANAGING FOR GROWTH SERIES – The Productivity Paradox: Understanding the importance of Process.

Do you think that you can double your productivity without any capital investment. Phil Kirby can help you to think about the process in your business, to be flexible, and to reduce your costs. Because the solution to this paradox is hiding in plain sight – if you know where to look.
Being fast can increase cost and decrease quality. Being flexible – providing variety and customization – can slow things down and escalate price. And being low cost requires standardization without variation. Being all three—fast, flexible and low cost—seems contradictory, if not impossible— except to a process mind.
With Phil Kirby learn some ways you can transform your business, and achieve new goals.
He says, “Your problems are hiding in plain sight; in the processes of your business, whether you are making widgets, distributing gizmos or servicing needs. You can outperform your competition by changing the way you think about process, by developing a process mind.”
In a captivating, candid, conversational style, Phil takes the audience from the boardroom to the frontlines, moving easily from thought-leading management theory to roll-up-your-sleeves, in-the-trenches practices.
