A Royal Showcase

I had the honour of attending Event Showcase Night at The Royal Conservatory’s Telus Centre. It was an evening specifically for Event Planners to showcase the glorious hall and various reception rooms. The Telus Centre has an exclusive list of suppliers that commanded our presence that evening. My Uber black car pulled up to 273 Bloor Street West. I walked down a long aisle to be greeted by polite and professional wait staff carrying warm up drinks of some pomegranate coloured, sweet and sour with a splash of sparkling bubbles. I continued down a long hallway (regrettably in my stilettos, albeit it was a walk that entwined both romance and modern art that made the walk oh so spectacular. One wall was composed of a brick wall and a glass enclosure on the other, humbly overlooking the atrium, home to the b’espresso bar, where you will see students mingling amongst classical repertoires.
A group of exclusive, yet diverse vendors were lined up on the circumference of the main lobby. Behind each vendor, their company name was discreetly but creatively
displayed in white font, and appeared to be floating, on the glass window behind them. How tasteful. Only the finest samplings were provided. It was not your usual chicken on a stick or spring roll offering. There was melt in your mouth, fork tender beef ribs carved in the creamiest polenta ever. There was fois gras stuffed cornish hen. Clearly no expense was spared. But wait, there were also lobster rolls stuffed in those bite size half moon, mini white bread concoctions.
A beautiful jazz trio, dressed in tuxedos played in the corner of the glass enclosed hall. Could the evening be any more perfect?
You can rent one of the three floors but why would you? Go big or go home and rent the entire venue. It’s a must for your special occasion. Except, all in, it starts at about $50, 000 as you must rent each individual floor and bring in caterers and décor and tables and chairs. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous venue and your budget has lots of room for incidentals, consider the breathtaking Telus Centre. And put me on your guest list.

Alimento fine food emporium, the newest addition to the list of restaurants in King West Toronto, has become quite popular among the Torontonians as it is trying to give them a chance to taste the Italian wow without venturing out of the city. Nowadays the celebrities have begun gathering here to treat themselves at the world of Italian food. 
Again, the restaurant has already managed to take all the required measures to arrange various unforgettable and memorable events of your life. From wedding to birthday celebration, marriage anniversary, cocktail parties- they have it all planned out. Cityevents have visited this newly established last July to check out the new style of dining and shopping. The food quality and prices of food items at the food mart have dazzled their eyes.

CityEvents’ top choices of Toronto-based Festivals
About two weeks ago, Travelocity published an article “Travelocity Presents Spring and Summer Festivals You Can’t Miss in North America”. They listed their top 10 festivals as chosen by the employees. All of the events are very unique, with rich cultural and heritage experiences. However, there are only 2 events hosted in Canada and none of them are in Toronto, which is such a shame because Toronto is an extremely multi cultural city. There are loads of exclusive festivals offering authentic experiences for both tourists and Torontonians.
Here are CityEvents’ top choices of Toronto-based Festivals that could have been in that list:
- TIFF
Toronto International Film Festival is the most successful public film festival in the world. This annual September event was founded in 1976 at the fabulous Windsor Arms Hotel. In 2007, Time magazine indicated that the festival had “grown from its place as the most influential fall film festival to the most influential film festival, period”. More and more celebrities attended TIFF every year, for example, George Clooney is a big fan of TIFF and he frequently visit Toronto and be part of TIFF since 2009. It’s a great opportunity for fans to have a peek at celebrities and get some latest gossip! Pre-parties, after-parties, and well, just about any kind of celebration happens during that time in September.
- NXNE – North by Northeast
Many music fans know that Toronto is having its very own “Seattle Moment”. Toronto now has its own music style and trends, just like when Seattle developed the world famous music and band – Nirvana. NXNE is an annual five-day live music, film and conference festival that is drawing larger and larger numbers into the city. It has become a Canadian festival destination for unsigned bands, indie favorites and major-label headlining artists alike.

Not like Chicago, Toronto doesn’t have a big Taste of Toronto festival. But Toronto has been recognized as one of the most multi cultural cities in the world. In Toronto, we have various communities holding their own “Taste of…” Festivals. Across the city, communities are providing boutique and authentic culinary and cultural adventures for tourists and locals alike. Taste of Danforth is one of the most famous “Taste of…” events in Toronto. The ‘Danforth’ is a well-known Greek community on the east side of Toronto. You can find amazingly authentic souvlaki and anything pretty much related to Greece and Greek culture. You might be confused this is Toronto or Greece when you walk along Danforth, because people speak in Greek and even the street name signs are in Greek! Taste of South Asia, Taste of Little Italy and Taste of St. Clair are among some of the other amazing culinary festival this city has to offer.
