Power Ball: 15 Minutes of Fame

On June 6^th, 2013, The Power Plant, Canada’s leading contemporary art gallery, hosted more than 1,500 guests at PowerBall: 15 Minutes. The night was the opportunity to prove Andy Warhol’s famous quotation: “in the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes.”  The Powerball is one of the orginal scenesters events where the Toronto socialites mingled with a variety of artists and is always one of the more popular events on the gala schedule.

From amazing food provided by Thuet, fantastic cocktails from sponsors Ketel One, Grand Marnier, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Don Julio, and Perrier and a superb cake from KTL & Sybil, The Power Plant had something for everyone.  Our favourity was the ribs and poutine but was messy to eat when all dolled up.

 

The Power Plant is a vital forum for the advanced artistic culture of our time that offers an exceptional facility and professional support to diverse living artists while engaging equally diverse audiences in their work. 1st ever Canada Philippine Fashion Week

On June 10th started the world’s first Canada Philippine Fashion Week in Toronto. This 6 day event celebrated Philippe Independence Day in style and Kol Hope foundation for Children was serving as the beneficiary of the inaugural launch.

This week was proudly sponsored by PLDT, Philippine’s largest telecommunications company, GMA International, Scotiabank, San Miguel, Philippine Airlines, Lexus Downtown, Shangri-La Toronto, Kevin Murphy and Max’s of Manila.

PLDT Canada Philippine Fashion week had a lot to offer. From an opening night party hosted by Lexus Downtown, to a fashion exhibit at The Thompson Hotel or a dinner of couture cuisine and cocktails, CPFW had something for everyone’s tastes. At the big fashion show at Roy Thomson Hall many local celebrities like Steven & Chris were in attendance and local fashion designers presented their collections which were later showcased at the new GotStyle in the Distillery.

 

Canada Philippine Fashion Week is a non-profit organization aimed at showcasing fashion, culture, creativity and artistry of Filipinos in Canada and the Philippines. With over 800,000 Filipinos in Canada alone, it also aims to enhance public awareness, image, and the rise of Filipino fashion on the world stage, and to open up the fashion trade between both countries.

Give Me Liberty 2013 – Neighbourhood Networking

On Thursday June 6^th, the CityEvents team attended the, “Give Me Liberty After Work Party”. The event was located on Fraser Avenue on the west side of Lamport Stadium. Although the weather was uncooperative a good turnout of residents, business owners and Liberty Village lovers braved the wet weather. These brave souls enjoyed the many tents that contained food, drink and local businesses from the Liberty area. A DJ helped keep the mood light as partygoers enjoyed networking as they bounced from tent to tent. These tents included Good Life, AutoShare, Zipcar, Aroma, Yogurty’s, Maizal, Vogue Supperclub and 25 Liberty to name a few. Besides the weather the event was enjoyable and a great way to experience some of Liberty Villages many offerings.

Storys Building – A unique event only venue dowtown

Storys is once again one of the amazing venue of  Charles Khabouth, Ink Entertainment.

Storys is this beautiful 3 storey building in the entertainment district. (11 Duncas Street)

 

The 170 year old building is a stylishly mix of the original heritage and trendy design  which

result in a sumptuous and eclectic display of what modern Toronto is all about. Some of the features include panelled walls with historic artwork, high gloss finished doors, marble, and more…

Decorium opening displays remarkable Showroom!

On May 29^th, Decorium celebrated the opening of their second store in Summerhill. The store boasts an amazing and remarkable showroom. Decorium, a long-standing, successful Toronto furniture business offered a wide variety of food andample networking opportunities, which made this event a huge success. From delicacies provided by the Chef Warren, incredible cupcakes from Bite Me and sweets from Crazy Corn Caramel corn, Decorium had something for everybody’s tastes.

We definitively have to congratulate them on the really well executed event. While the CityEvents team was helping for the registration, we received very great feedback and a lot of compliments.
