Deb was named the Woman of the Week in Women’s Post for the week of January 9-14. Some highlights of the article discussed how Deb has made an outstanding contribution to Toronto events through CityEvents, an event planning services and on line events calendar. “I like to let people know what they have access to, or at least [let them] be aware what is going on in their own community.” Community is also of great importance to Deb, who has worked with many not-for-profit and charity organizations. “Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the community you live in.”
Deb also co-founded FastLane, a networking series in the GTA that provides fresh and current networking opportunities, as well as the Maple Leaf Digital Lounge which is launching at SXSW this spring that features new Canadian digital technology companies to an International market.
Check out the full article here. Deb has advice for budding entrepreneurs and event planners; to entrepreneurs, she says, “Enjoy the freedom of directing your future. Be prepared for all the other areas of life that business will seep into. Be prepared to find some work/life balance.” To those interested in event management, she encourages proactively: “be prepared to be responding in an immediate manner. Don’t sit around to react; you may not get the next gig. People want everything done yesterday.”
