Cube Nightclub is a newly designed restaurant and bar located by Queen St. and Spadina Ave. in the Entertainment District area of Downtown Toronto. This dance bar and nightclub spot features bottle service, dancing, DJ in a casual atmosphere. Cube presents itself as a mature nightclub for the 25-plus.
Although it is known as a nightclub it can also be rented out for corporate events or lavish parties. Cube boasts a state-of-the-art D&B sound system and a 12-by-6-foot LED wall.
Cube’s retro aesthetic is thanks to Alessandro Munge of Munge Leung. Custom-made bronze shelving behind the 50-foot polished black bar is matched by bronze beams and lighting fixtures throughout. Curved vintage yellow-green booths are spread all over space for ample seating and lounging. Floating above the room and along the back walls, there’s a “film-strip” mural made from the spliced segments of old 70’s porn for an appropriately cubist bit of racy, retro fetishism.
The 3,500-square-foot fully renovated rooftop patio opened May 30, 2012. This fully renovated nightclub would be great to book your next event, especially the patio that can be rented out all summer long.

In February 2011, The Ritz-Carlton opened in Toronto. Located in the heart of the downtown core and at the crossroads of the financial and performing arts districts, this hotel brings a new level of luxury to the city.
The Ritz-Carlton Toronto’s five-storey glass podium at the base of the guestroom tower, contains the public areas of the hotel and features the grand foyer lobby with its striking glass bridge, restaurant, bar, lounge and upscale meeting and conference facilities and the city’s largest luxury ballroom.

There are two sets of ballrooms at the Ritz-Carlton, on the 2nd and 4th floors. The main ballroom on the second floor can be accessible either by elevator or via stairs.
The cocktail area of the main Ritz-Carlton ballroom on the 2nd floor is right outside the ballroom and spans from the north side to the east side of the building in an L-shape. There are mobile bar areas throughout and also a grand piano in the corner.
The 7,400 square foot Ritz-Carlton Ballroom can seat up to 600 guests. For smaller groups, the ballroom can be partitioned into four separate areas. The chairs they provide are standard banquet size and should fit most chair covers. Walls are padded for increased acoustics. There isn’t a bridal room, however the Ritz-Carlton provides a complimentary hotel room for couples who host their reception with them, and can dually serve as a changing and makeup area for them.
Similarly, on the 4th floor, there is an L-shaped cocktail area encompassing the Wellington ballroom. The Wellington ballroom is 3,000 square feet and can seat 325 guests. Like the Ritz-Carlton ballroom, it too can be partitioned into four separate rooms. In addition to the Wellington ballroom, there is also a smaller Gallery that can seat 140 guests.
Individual meeting rooms are also available including the Executive Boardroom and the Park View Room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Wellington Street West and Metro Hall Park. Spacious pre-function space with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows overlooks Metro Hall Park and Roy Thompson Hall.
The Ritz-Carlton also offers an unrivalled dining experience with signature restaurant, TOCA by Tom Brodi. The interactive restaurant includes an open-concept kitchen, walk-through pastry corridor, in-kitchen chef’s table, glass-encased cheese cave and extensive wine cellar with a focus on Canadian wines.

Planning a Party for St. Patrick
March 7, 2012 by deblewis

In a city with so many cultures, it is only natural that Toronto would celebrate a day of full spirited Irish traditions. March 17th is fast approaching, and with our Irish luck this St. Patrick’s Day has landed on a Saturday! Many will want to take advantage of the weekend and throw parties in the spirit of the leprechaun. Here are some simple tips that will make your party the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Décor
St. Patrick’s Day is all about green. Most importantly you must wear green attire and encourage your guests to do the same. Then one trip to the dollar store will save you money and maybe even save you a headache. First pick up green shamrock decorations, along with stickers, balloons and construction paper. Then make sure you grab green plates, cups, and cutlery for your St. Patty’s snacks. Even with a small budget, you find all of your décor needs for under $20.
Food and Beverage
The theme of this party is simple. Green all the way through, even in the food! Food colouring will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Just add a few drops into beer, soda and even some food to get the feel good green effect. Make sure to use the dye in plastic cups to avoid staining your own glassware. Stick with classic finger foods and a variety of Irish beers. Everyone can enjoy some classic food with a delicious new taste of beer.
Here are some ideas for Irish Brews that can be found at varying LCBO’s…
- Guinness Irish Stout
- Harp Irish Lager
- Smithwicks Irish Amber Ale
- Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale
For the ladies, try Animee Rosé Beer, an internationally known brew that has become very popular in Ireland and is available through Molson Coors. The sweet and light taste will be splendidly refreshing this March month.
Music
Finding the right music for an event can be very tricky when trying to satisfy a variety of people. Here are some east coast Canadian artists that you can integrate into your own personal play list to get the perfect Celtic sounds.
- Great Big Sea
- The Barra MacNeils
- Loreena McKennitt
- Natalie McMaster
- The Rankin Family
- Ashley Mac Isaac
Games
- Pot of Gold – Balloon Pop
Take a bunch of cold balloons and fill some with a chocolate coin, some with real coins, some with plastic shamrocks and keep a handful empty. Each guest has the chance to pop a balloon to find their lucky prize inside. The excitement comes from the mystery of what is in the balloon.
- Lucky Coin Grab
Fill a pot with chocolate coins and three Canadian loonies. Each guest will have a chance to grab. Either they will get a chocolate coin, or they will get a real dollar. The three who pick the dollar will win St. Patrick’s Day merchandise. They will get to choose between a hat, t-shirt, or shamrock beads. Your prizes can vary depending on what you have available.
So whether your tradition is as simple as sporting some green gear for the day or drinking a pint of green beer, the tradition of the Irish is easy to carry on when you follow these simple party tips.
Best of luck!
